Obama’s threat that there may not be enough money to send out Social Security checks is indeed shocking in light of the claim by leading Democrats, just a few short years ago, that there was NO PROBLEM with Social Security. Remember this?

So either: (1) Democrats were wrong when they ruthlessly attacked Bush for trying to reform Social Security; or (2) Obama is lying now.

Or both.

The truth is that Bush was right. There is no Social Security “lockbox.” Thanks to years of federal government mismanagement, the entire system is now threatened. The truth is also that Obama has many other areas of spending he can and should cut before he threatens to break the nation’s promise to Americans that the money taken from them by the government under compulsion of law for decades would be returned to them when they reached retirement age.

That solemn promise is about to be broken — UNLESS something changes.

Paul Ryan has offered the only sensible roadmap so far to return the nation to solvency with minimal disruption.

Obama has no plan. His plan is to let the nation go belly up and then seize the opportunity to further reward his political allies and punish his political enemies.
