The fear that a nuclear cloud could float from the shores of Japan to the shores of California has some people making a run on iodine tablets. Pharmacists across California report being flooded with requests.
State and county officials spent much of Tuesday trying to keep people calm by saying that getting the pills wasn’t necessary, but then the United States surgeon general supported the idea as a worthy "precaution."

On news that the situation in Japan is rapidly worsening, President Barack Obama doubled his efforts to aid that stricken country over the weekend, taking a Japanese staff member, Yasataka Kang, golfing with him.
The outing was a somber one, filled with symbolic gestures of unity with Japan, including sushi rolls and Japanese beer served from the course beverage cart, the use of Yamaha golf carts and Japanese insignia ball markers and golf balls, and a rousing karaoke contest in the clubhouse afterward.
"We stand with our Japanese brothers and sisters in their hour of need," Obama told reporters in the men’s locker room where he was receiving a therapeutic message from Kang.
My comments: I was wondering when Barry was going to do more for one of our closest allies than park a couple of boats offshore. As usual, he didn’t disappoint!

The interview runs about 9 minutes and was filmed on 3/7/2011. Rep. Jerguson slammed the media for spinning the issue and for the half-truths they report about it. In short, he says it is a constitutional issue and a rule of law issue. Rep. Jerguson states a "natural born Citizen" is one born on American soil to parents that are both U.S. citizens. He said right now verification for presidential eligibility is lacking. Jerguson was asked what people can do to get the bill moved along. He said people should contact the state Legislatures.

America would not have gone completely off the rails to elect a mysterious but obviously unqualified ultra-left community organizer President of the United States if it weren’t for the panic surrounding the 2008 economic meltdown, combined with John "More of the Same" McCain’s admitted incompetence on economic matters. But the excellent timing of the financial crisis from Democrats’ point of view was conspicuously absent from a Pentagon report on the likelihood that it was deliberately triggered by America’s enemies:
Evidence outlined in a Pentagon contractor report suggests that financial subversion carried out by unknown parties, such as terrorists or hostile nations, contributed to the 2008 economic crash by covertly using vulnerabilities in the U.S. financial system.
The unclassified 2009 report "Economic Warfare: Risks and Responses" by financial analyst Kevin D. Freeman, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times, states that "a three-phased attack was planned and is in the process against the United States economy." …
"There is sufficient justification to question whether outside forces triggered, capitalized upon or magnified the economic difficulties of 2008," the report says, explaining that those domestic economic factors would have caused a "normal downturn" but not the "near collapse" of the global economic system that took place.

A panic phase was necessary to get Obama into office. That has passed, but the war on our economy continues, dovetailing perfectly with the hard left’s goal of reducing America to a second-rate power while imposing a collectivist economy.
George Soros, bankroller of all things radical left, has been fingered for engineering financial crises in Asia and Britain. Now he says the world’s America-based financial system has collapsed. There’s no need to wonder what this outspoken internationalist/oligarchical collectivist thinks we should replace it with. But it would be interesting to know how much he had to do with the 2008 crash.

QUAKE SHORTENED EARTH'S DAY...
The massive earthquake that struck northeast Japan Friday (March 11) has shortened the 
length Earth’s day by a fraction and shifted how the planet’s mass is distributed.
A new analysis of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has found that the intense temblor has accelerated Earth’s spin, shortening the length of the 24-hour day by 1.8 microseconds, according to geophysicist Richard Gross at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
Gross refined his estimates of the Japan quake’s impact – which previously suggested a 1.6-microsecond shortening of the day – based on new data on how much the fault that triggered the earthquake slipped to redistribute the planet’s mass. A microsecond is a millionth of a second.
Any such connection between Obama policies and energy prices is a pretty hard case to make, what with the Obama administration having immediately upon taking office canceled oil and gas leases, placed more areas off limits for domestic exploration and production, changing the Minerals Management Service to an offshore windmill permitting agency since all we need is some offshore windmills (not one but two senior administration officials have said this, including a cabinet secretary), then not letting the Gulf spill ‘go to waste’ by seizing it to strangle our biggest domestic source of oil.
Of course, there is also that long trail of aspirational comments, well beyond vowing to cause electricity prices to ’skyrocket’, indicating this steady gas price hike is their objective, even if overseas developments are causing problems for them [helping the rise advance too quickly such that people pay attention, with these developments adding to the price hikes the admin have built in, with much more obviously undone but hopefully on the way].

This afternoon the President of the United States tried one again to mislead the public about domestic oil production and how much untapped oil is left in the ground. He said that domestic oil production is at the highest level in seven years and he indicated that American reserves are not adequate to help the US reduced its dependence on foreign oil. If Congressman Wilson was in the audience he might have repeated his famous shout “You Lie.”

Obama commented that US oil production was at its highest point in seven years. That was both incorrect and misleading. Daily average production of oil last year 5,361,000 barrels/day the best since 2005’s 5,419,000/day. The real misleading fact about his statement, is that neither year is even close to levels seen only ten years before when production was 20% higher.
The President mentioned 35 offshore contracts were awarded, hiding the fact that off shore oil production has been way down since 2005, and that production took a big drop as soon as Obama took office (even before BP)

More than 80 percent of all convictions tied to international terrorist groups and homegrown terrorism since 9/11 involve defendants driven by a radical Islamist agenda, a review of Department of Justice statistics shows.

Today, cameras are much smaller and easier to hide…which is how conservative activist James O’Keefe managed to record a cheery and enthusiastic torrent of hate speech from the President of the NPR Foundation, Ron Schiller, who believed he was privately chatting with two men offering a $5 million dollar donation from a group closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
During the chummy, dinner table conversation, Schiller described the Tea Party movement as "anti-intellectual, white, middle America, gun-toting, fundamental Christian" types who are "seriously racist people" and who have "hijacked" the Republican party. After making these accusations of racism, Schiller then said he was proud that NPR recently fired Juan Williams – their only black air personality. And sensing that he was on a roll with his new Islamic best buds, Schiller enthused that there is no "Zionist" influence at NPR, nor any support for Israel among NPR’s major donors and supporters, unlike other media outlets which he implied were controlled by Jews.
Happily, there has been fallout from all of this. Schiller has either been fired or simply chosen to leave his high-paying position, depending on whether you believe his statements or those of the damn Jew-controlled mainstream media.
And his boss, Vivian Schiller – who fired NPR’s only black commentator for admitting that Muslims in religious garb make him slightly nervous on plane flights, and sneered that Williams needed psychiatric help – has also had her sudden "resignation" (cough, cough) accepted by NPR’s board of directors. In the interim, Schiller’s position will be filled by Joyce Slocum, NPR’s alleged Chief Ethics Officer and General Counsel, who clearly has been doing abang-up job of advising on All Things Ethical.
But why are heads rolling now? Because Congress has to cut the budget…and a very easy cut will be the $450 million tax dollars that have been going to support arrogant, distorted hate speech which attacks the very Americans NPR is supposed to be serving..

Even though the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and many institutions leading the cancer industry (including the ACS) have intentionally tried to downplay the ability of vitamin D to prevent cancer, a new study appearing in the journal Anticancer Research lays out the simple, powerful truth about vitamin D that we’ve been teaching at Natural News for years: A typical adults needs 4,000 – 8,000 IUs of vitamin D each day to prevent cancer, MS and type-1 diabetes, not the ridiculously low 400 – 800 IUs recommended by the U.S. government.
The new research was conducted by scientists at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha. It is groundbreaking research because it establishes the relationship between vitamin D dosage and circulating vitamin D levels in the blood.
This is a first. It is crucial information for the health care revolution that will be necessary to save states and nations from total health care bankruptcy in the coming years. Vitamin D turns out to be one of the simplest, safest and most affordable ways to prevent degenerative disease and sharply reduce long-term health care costs.
"We found that daily intakes of vitamin D by adults in the range of 4,000 to 8,000 IU [international units] are needed to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce by about half the risk of several diseases — breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes," said Dr. Cedric Garland. Dr. Garland is the professor of family and preventive medicine at the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. He went on to say:
"I was surprised to find that the intakes required to maintain vitamin D status for disease prevention were so high — much higher than the minimal intake of vitamin D of 400 IU/day that was needed to defeat rickets in the 20th century."
This particular study involved over 3,000 volunteers who were taking vitamin D supplements. Researchers drew blood samples from them in order to determine their levels of 25-vitamin D (the common form circulating in the blood).
The results were shocking even to the study authors, revealing that 90 percent of those studied were deficient in vitamin D, falling below the 40 – 60 ng/ml range now considered healthy. (Most nutritionally-aware experts in the natural health world recommend higher ranges of 60 – 70 ng/ml, actually.)
The U.S. government’s Institute of Medicine has intentionally downplayed vitamin D recommendations, seemingly in an effort to keep boosting the profits of the cancer industry by denying any real benefit to vitamin D. The IOMs most recent recommendations seemed designed to actually cause vitamin D deficiency in the U.S. population (www.naturalnews.com/030598_v…).
The IOM has even gone out of its way to artificially lower the threshold of vitamin D deficiency by claiming that 20 ng/ml is a sufficient level. This magically transforms a "deficient" person into a "non-deficient" person by merely changing the definition. So a person with a level of 22 ng/ml, for example, is not considered "vitamin D deficient" by the established medical system, even though their vitamin D levels are so low that they may not be able to prevent cancer, MS or type-1 diabetes.

Obama cheers for higher gas prices...
Comments from Steven Chu, now President Barack Obama’s energy secretary, that a gradual increase in gasoline taxes could coax consumers into dumping their gas-guzzlers and finding homes closer to where they work. Chu, then a Nobel Prize-winning professor, argued that higher costs per gallon could force investments in alternative fuels and spur cleaner energy sources.
"This administration’s policies have been designed to drive up the cost of energy in the name of reducing pollution, in the name of making very expensive alternative fuels more economically competitive," Barbour said during a U.S. Chamber of Commerce breakfast across the street from the White House.
In 2008, while the head of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, Chu told The Wall Street Journal that energy prices were the lynchpin to an energy overhaul.
"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," Chu said in September 2008.
