A neighborhood watch man, an adult carrying a concealed weapon, shot and killed an unarmed teenage boy and was just found not-guilty by a jury after two days of deliberations.

I’m shocked you missed President Obama’s statement when he found out about the shooting, “If the white half of me had a son he would have looked like Christopher Cervini.”

You might have even missed the uproar surrounding the Department of Justice having their Community Relations Services group in Rochester, NY organize demonstrations of white upstate New Yorkers demanding a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate this cold blooded murder of a gentle white boy by a black man wearing a hoodie.

Actually, I’m not shocked that you missed all that news since it wasn’t really news outside of Rochester, NY. Here’s a summary of what happened.

Scott says he acted in self defense when he confronted Cervini and two others saying they were stealing from neighbors cars. He told them he had a gun and ordered them to freeze and wait for police.

Scott says he shot Cervini twice when the victim charged toward him yelling he was going to get Scott.

Based on what I’ve been able to find, the jury reached the correct verdict in Scott’s case just as they did in the Zimmerman trial.

I also understand why we haven’t heard a word from President Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP or anything about expanded investigations from the Department of Justice.

That is called “hypocrisy”.

President Barack Obama decided to force the Marine Corps legend out early because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way, and forced them to answer tough questions regarding Iran.

On Monday afternoon, the US Department of Justice appealed to civil rights groups and the general public across the country for “tips” on George Zimmerman in their pursuit of potential federal civil rights charges against the just-acquitted defendant in the Trayvon Martin killing. The DOJ actually went so far as to set up an e-mail address to allow such tips: Sanford.florida@usdoj.gov.

Thomas Perez, who is up for Labor Secretary and whose nomination has been held up by Republicans in the Senate so far, is the same walking disaster who opted not to prosecute the New Black Panthers for brandishing night sticks and making racist threats outside a Philadelphia polling place in November 2008. He’s also the walking disaster who is fighting Voter ID legislation across the country in direct confrontation with the 75 percent of the American public who think it’s a common sense, non-invasive measure to prevent voter fraud. And he’s the walking disaster who brought a case against the state of Louisiana, which has the fourth-highest percentage of voter registration among eligible adults, for failing to register welfare recipients to vote with sufficient vigor.

And now Perez is heading up what can only be described as a fishing expedition in an effort to find something – anything – which would support the nonexistent narrative of Zimmerman as racist who hates blacks.

Zimmerman has African blood flowing through his veins from his mother’s side of the family.

Zimmerman mentored black kids, even at the time of the Trayvon Martin incident.

Zimmerman took a black girl to his high school prom.

Zimmerman had a black business partner.

Zimmerman entered into a public confrontation with the Sanford Police Department over its treatment of a black homeless man.

You cannot prove Zimmerman as a hater of black people. There is nothing available to make that case.

But rather than recognize this patently obvious fact, we have…crowdsourcing. By the U.S. Justice Department.

There won’t actually be a case brought by DOJ against Zimmerman. They won’t do it, because to do so will involve failing to secure an indictment by a grand jury or, in the odd chance they can find a grand jury willing to issue an indictment, having the case thrown out by a federal judge long before it reaches trial.

Instead, they’ll keep an investigation open.

“None offense to the jury, they old. That’s old school people.  We in the new school, our generation, my generation.”

Exactly what Rachel Jeantel does read is a mystery. She appears to be a typical specimen of the sub-literate youth warehoused within the Miami-Dade County school system. Anyone who has read the text-messages Trayvon exchanged with Jeantel and his other friends must despair for the future of the country.

“Well, the jury, they see their fact,” Jeantel replied. “None offense to the jury, they old. That’s old school people.  We in the new school, our generation, my generation.”

God help us, she’s probably right: Rachel Jeantel is “the new school” — the emblematic star of an ill-educated generation raised on TV and pop culture, disrespectful of their elders, marginally literate and incapable of exercising the duties of responsible citizenship.

Trayvon Martin was not from Sanford, Florida. This is perhaps the most important fact of the entire story, in part because it may explain why the teenager was so disturbed at being followed by George Zimmerman. Trayvon was from Miami Gardens, the largest majority-black city in Florida, where the population is 76 percent black and 22 percent Hispanic and “creepy-ass crackers” are quite rare. Crime is commonplace in Miami Gardens — the crime rate is about 70 percent higher than the national average — and Trayvon Martin was one of the criminals.

Twice during his junior year at Krop High School, Trayvon was caught by school police with evidence of crime. The first time, in October 2011, an officer with the Miami-Dade School Police Department (MDSPD) caught Trayvon engaged in writing graffiti on a door and, searching the teen’s backpack to find the marker he had used, found 12 pieces of women’s jewelry and a man’s watch. Trayvon claimed he had gotten this from a friend he refused to name. The jewelry matched the description of items stolen in the burglary of a nearby home — but this evidence was never reported to the Miami-Dade police who were investigating that burglary, because the MDSPD did not charge Trayvon with a crime.

Evidence obtained from his cell-phone included photos of Trayvon exhaling smoke, as well as photos of marijuana plants and a semi-automatic pistol, his purchase of which was apparently negotiated through text-messages on the same phone.

Waking up on the organ harvesting table…

A woman named Colleen Burns recently opened her eyes to find herself on an operating table in a hospital in Syracuse, NY. Looking around, she noticed that she was the subject of the operation. It turns out doctors were about to harvest her organs and send them to other waiting surgeons who would transplant them into other patients.

This isn’t fiction. It was covered by ABC News and several other news sources. It really happened.

And how did it happen? Doctors falsely pronounced her dead by fraudulently claiming she had suffered “cardiopulmonary arrest” and “irreversible brain damage.” This gave them the medical justification to start slicing away even while the woman’s heart was still beating.

This is a big “holy crap I didn’t know that” fact about organ donations: Doctors don’t wait until you’re really dead. At least not by any normal definition of “dead.”

And guess who makes the money on all these organ transplants? The doctors, hospitals and drug companies, of course. Organ transplants are a hugely profitable industry — largely because they get the organs for free. Patients who are killed by these doctors are never paid for their organs. The fact that they “donate” them actually means they are donating their immensely valuable organs to a for-profit system that’s going to earn potentially millions of dollars off the organs of a single donor.

They can, in fact, declare you “dead” even when your heart is still beating and you still have brain activity. And they often do. This is how a lot of the organ harvesting in America actually gets done: patients that are on the verge of death (but not yet actually dead) are simply “declared” dead, then their organs are quickly removed, killing them for good.

It’s a crime that takes place every day in America, where U.S. hospitals have been caught over and over again engaging in black market organ trafficking.

Due largely to unauthorized leaks, we now know that the National Security Agency has seized from private companies voluminous data on the phone and Internet usage of all U.S. citizens. We’ve also learned that the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court has approved the constitutionality of these seizures in secret proceedings in which only the government appears, and in opinions kept secret even from the private companies from whom the data are seized.

All of this dangerously violates the most fundamental principles of our republican form of government. The Fourth Amendment has two parts: First, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.” Second, that “no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Defining healthfully-grown food in the geoengineering era

Is the “organic” label really worth as much as years past, before heavy and daily geoengineering? Organic food is grown without the use of pesticides, which is good for us and for the planet. However, organic crops, like conventional crops, are grown in open fields under open sky. Since geoengineering occurs over nearly every country in the world, these so-called organic crops are indeed grown free of pesticides, but not free of the harmful heavy metals such aluminum and barium and the unknown pathogens in the aerosol that fall on them from the sky nearly every single day.

Geoengineering defined

What is geoengineering, and why is it so bad? Stratospheric aerosol geoengineering is a climate modification program being conducted by major world powers. The program is executed is by spraying microscopic toxic metal aerosol particles into the atmosphere via the use of unmarked jet aircraft. This spraying occurs above all the continents, and has the stated goal of weather control and slowing global warming. Aluminum and barium, which comprise the particles in the spray, are highly toxic to living organisms and bio-regions. Stratospheric aerosol spraying also disturbs the hydrological cycle of the planet, shrinks the atmosphere, promotes the proliferation of fungi, drives species to extinction, fills the world’s oceans with toxic particulate heavy metals which disturb aquatic ecosystems, and destroys our planet’s ozone layer. In other words, stratospheric geoengineering is wrecking the planet and human and animal health.

Solutions at a crossroads

Clearly, the human race is at a crossroads. We must approach the problems we face by either eliminating the problem (chemtrail spraying or geoengineering) at the source, or find a work-around to bypass or at least partially sidestep the problem temporarily (greenhouse-grown organics). At best, however, any work-around solution is essentially just a stopgap. The problem itself must be addressed at the source if humanity and the planet’s ecosystems are to survive and thrive. That means that we must work together to address the chemtrail issue and get the spraying stopped if we are to have a future.

In the meantime, however, the food-related solution to this ongoing problem appears to simple in concept. Iffood is grown in an enclosed space, under cover, or in a greenhouse, it and the soil it’s grown in escape contamination from poisons from the sky. Food grown in this manner, in this era of stratosphericgeoengineering, would truly be deserving of the organic label. Food grown in this manner would also be potent in mineral and nutrient content, as nature intended, and would provide real nourishment for body and soul.

Cancer Causing Pepsi:

Last March, a third party watchdog group, the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) found dangerous levels of a carcinogen in the caramel coloring of Coke and Pepsi products.
The carcinogen, 4-methylimidazole, is a byproduct created during the production of caramel coloring. As the caramel coloring goes under high pressures and temperatures, sugars react with ammonia and sulfites, forming the 4-MEI byproduct.
When animal studies showed “clear evidence” that 4-MEI was a toxic carcinogen, including thyroid, liver, and lung cancer incidents, the National Toxicology Program threw up red flags.
It was in 2011 that the state of California responded to the lab results, effectively banning the carcinogen from their state. Since then, all cola products in the state of California have been required to be properly marked with a cancer causing warning label, according to Prop 65 consumer protection laws.

Over a year later, Pepsi still contains high levels of 4-MEI

In the wake of their products being exposed, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo began to change their soda formula for products sold in California. They took an even bigger leap forward when they gave CEH their word that they would not only change their California products, but they would also change their nationwide formula as well, eliminating the production of the carcinogenic 4-MEI altogether.
Unfortunately, according to CEH, over a year later, Pepsi hasn’t complied. Pepsi purchased from ten states reportedly still contains high levels of 4-MEI, while Coca-Cola has taken drastic measures to rid 4-MEI from their products.

You may want to think twice before taking any more generic copies of brand-name pharmaceutical drugs, thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling that effectively eliminates manufacturer liability in injury cases resulting from negative side effects. In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court recently overturned a $21 million judgment awarded to a New Hampshire woman injured by a generic pain drug, declaring in the process that generic drug manufacturers cannot be sued when the drugs they produce injure patients.

Since generic drugs are mere replicas of brand-name drugs that, at one time, were approved by the U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as “safe,” generic drug manufacturers are exempt from being held liable in the event of injuries caused by harmful side effects.

List of words to avoid using if you don’t want the NSA to flag your emails, phone calls

More than a year ago, following a Freedom of Information Act request, the federal government, via the Department of Homeland Security, was forced to release a list of trigger terms that causes any number of federal agencies to put you under extra scrutiny. Per Britain’s Daily Mail, May 26, 2012:

The Department of Homeland Security has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor social networking sites and online media for signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.

The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as ‘attack’, ‘Al Qaeda’, ‘terrorism’ and ‘dirty bomb’ alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like ‘pork’, ‘cloud’, ‘team’ and ‘Mexico’.

List of words ‘broad, ambiguous’

The list helps shed a little needed light on how government analysts like NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden are instructed on how to troll the Internet in search of threats, both foreign and domestic.

According to the Mail the words are contained in DHS’ 2011 “Analyst’s Desktop Binder,” which is used by employees at the department’s National Operations Center. There, workers are instructed to identify “media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities,” the binder notes (you know, like this story, most likely).

Department heads had to release the binder in the wake of a House hearing regarding documents that have been obtained per a FOIA lawsuit, “which revealed how analysts monitor social networks and media organizations for comments that ‘reflect adversely’ on the government,” the paper reported.

Naturally DHS feigned innocence, insisting that the practice of targeting keywords within electronic communications is not policing the Web, per se, but rather only as a means of learning about potential threats.

Besides terrorism, analysts are instructed to look for any indicators of natural disasters in the making, threats to public health and serious major crimes, like mass shootings, major drug arrests and busts of illegal immigrants.

Rick Perry and the state of Texas has had a major impact on Obama’s net gains in job growth to the tune of 43% according to JP Updates, and the funny thing is Texas only accounts for less than 10% of the total US population:

From the start of February 2009 (Obama’s first full month in office) through the end of May 2013 (the last month there is available Federal data for jobs per state) the United States had a net gain of 2,076,000 jobs. In the same time, Texas had a net gain of 882,582 jobs. In other words, 43% of the net job gains since Obama’s first full month in office are from Texas. This is a major success for Perry considering that his State has less than 7% of the overall U.S. population.

Those jobs numbers are from the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics so there is no room for the Left to argue that the Texas numbers are no good.

Mysterious death during gun control debate raises questions

What you are about to read is astonishing. I’m not even sure what’s the right conclusion to draw from it. But here’s what we know so far:

John Noveske is one of the most celebrated battle rifle manufacturers in America. His rifles, found atwww.NoveskeRifleworks.com are widely recognized as some of the finest pieces of American-made hardware ever created. (I own one of his rifles, and it’s a masterpiece of a machine that just keeps on running.) Sadly, John Noveske was killed in a mysterious car crash just a few days ago, on January 4, 2013.

According to the Outdoor Wire, his car “traveled across the oncoming lane onto the dirt highway shoulder until it struck two large boulders. The vehicle rolled and Mr. Noveske was ejected.”
But barely a week before this incident, John Noveske posted a lengthy, detailed post on Facebook that listed all the school shootings tied to psychiatric drugs.

At the end of the post, he asked, “What drugs was Adam Peter Lanza on?”

That was the last post he ever made.

John Noveske wasn’t the first prominent gun rights supporter to be killed in the last few days. Keith Ratliff, the creator of a super-popular YouTube channel featuring videos of exotic weapons, was also recently found dead.
The Daily Mail reports that Ratliff was “discovered on a rural road in Carnesville, Georgia.

Ratliff had a single gunshot wound the head and police are treating his death as a homicide.”

Someone murdered Ratliff, in other words, and it had to be someone with the ability to get close enough to Ratliff to take him out without warning.
Beyond these two shootings, the widely-discredited CNN journalist Piers Morgan, wanted for questioning in Britain’s Daily Mirror phone hacking scandal, invited guests onto his show who threatened Alex Jones’ children and laughed about the idea of Piers Morgan shooting Alex Jones with an AR-15.

So, You Don’t Want The NSA Snooping Into Your Activities?

Complaining about the government is a key part of being American, the first amendment to the Constitution. But it seems like a bit of a trickier proposition these days, with the government listening to everything you say online. In the interest of preserving your freedoms and bolstering our fair nation, here is the full articulation of the deeply paranoid and complex life you must live in order to assure that the government leaves you alone.

Before we begin, we’ll note that technically the NSA isn’t allowed to look at the stuff you do online. Thanks to the Patriot Act, it can (and does) store the metadata on phone calls Americans make every day—who was called, how long the call lasted, maybe some location data. The NSA also pulls in online content, but can’t do so legally on targets in the United States. This is part of the PRISM program you may have heard about, in which the NSA can access data from an array of companies in near-real-time. In practice, the NSA’s procedures are sufficiently lax that it does collect information (content) from Americans, of course. And until 2011, it collected metadata on emails, including subject lines and to- and from-addresses.

That is the worst case scenario. Yes, the NSA is definitely slurping up scads of information about your phone calls. It probably isn’t storing your Facebook chats, emails, and Skype calls. Our goal with this guide is to detail exactly what you need to do to assure that it can’t, even if it wants to. As you will see, it is a cumbersome process.

For assistance in fleshing out this guide, we spoke with Micah Lee, a staff technologist with the Electronic Frontier Foundation who has also written a guide to some of the tools mentioned below.

First, the really bad news.

The world learned about PRISM thanks to a series of slides leaked by Edward Snowden. Among those slides was this one.

On this slide, you can see the companies that participate in the program but also the data they offer the NSA, if the agency asks. Microsoft, Google, Yahoo (complete with trademark exclamation point), Facebook, YouTube, Skype, AOL, Apple. All of the logos smushed into the header of the slide. And all of the companies to be avoided if you don’t want any chance that the NSA can surveil what you’re doing.

Again: We are not saying that you should not use Facebook. What we are saying is that if you are desperate to prevent the NSA from knowing what you’re doing, you shouldn’t use Facebook. And there’s nothing you can do to make using Facebook better—no encryption, no anything can make Facebook safe from the NSA. (We’ll discuss this more a little later on.)

But it gets worse. These are the companies known to be participating in PRISM as of last October (when Apple was added). Since then, others may have been added; others may be added in the future. The truly paranoid, then, will have second thoughts about nearly any major Internet company.

And then it gets worse still, as Lee pointed out. “Any company that’s inside of U.S. jurisdiction,” he said, “can get government requests for data. Even if they’re not listed in the PRISM slides, that doesn’t mean the government isn’t getting data from them.” If the NSA wants your data, in other words, it can probably get it. It just might not be in real-time. (We’ll get back to this, too.)

Before we continue, we should flesh out an important distinction. When you think of an email, what you generally think of is the content of the email, the message. In order for that message to get to you, though, the email also needs to contain metadata, a term loosely-and-not-entirely-accurately used to refer to information about the email message itself. For example: who it is addressed to, who it came from, what its subject is. (We have gone deeper into this before.)

That distinction is important because email operates like a letter sent through the post office. A letter, sealed in an envelope, can be hidden from the mailman. But the mailman needs to be able to read the address, or your letter won’t get there. In this case, the metadata is what appears on the envelope; the content is the letter.

So there is a good way to hide the content of your email messages. A tool called PGP (short for “Pretty Good Privacy”), created by a man named Philip Zimmerman, offers a way to encrypt (encode) email messages between two parties using what’s know as peer-to-peer encryption. That’s an important property. It means that person A encoded the message and only person B is able to decode it. So as the envelope moves around the web, you can be sure it stays sealed until it gets where it’s going. (How PGP actually works isn’t important for our purposes. In short: It involves doing a math problem involving two very, very large numbers.)

How do you get PGP? PGP as a brand is now owned by Symantec, so you can give them your money and they will set you up. But there are also open source implementations of the technology. (If you’re deeply knowledgeable about technology, you can establish your own PGP system—but if you can do this, we doubt you need a tutorial.) One such product is known as GPG (Gnu Privacy Guard), which comes in both Mac and Windows versions. This is not simple to implement, mind you, but the documentation is pretty thorough.

That’s the tradeoff on this stuff. You can use a packaged product like, say HushMail, a program that gives you a free email account that can send encrypted messages. But when you sign up, you’ll see a little notice that the company will work with law enforcement if you’re using your account for illegal activity. And in the past, the company has done exactly that when ordered to do so. Easy to use, but not a guaranteed protection against the NSA—as the site’s security page makes clear.

So you’ve got your PGP up and running and you’re all set, right? Nope. Lee explains why. “PGP protects the content of your email,” he says. “Specifically: Just the body, not the subject line. Even without the content of the email, it still doesn’t protect the metadata.” As recently as two years ago, the government was scooping up all of that metadata, reading all of those envelopes. PGP can’t help with that. So how do you protect yourself from having your metadata read?

One way is to use email servers that employ a system called STARTTLS. This is complicated, but if two email servers employ STARTTLS, even the metadata information on emails is encrypted. So the NSA could see two email servers communicating, but not the To and From addresses involved.

An easier way to hide your metadata is to restrict your email to one domain. As Lee explains, if you’re sending an email from someone at privateemail.com to someone at privateemail.com, that message never goes out on the Internet. Meaning that the government can’t watch it zip around and pick up the metadata. It’s like leaving a note for your roommate—the mailman won’t see that.

Unless the mailman kicks in your door/the NSA subpoenas your email provider. Or if your email provider already has an agreement with the government—GMail or Outlook, for example—it may be easier than that. How do you solve  that problem? Run your own email server and don’t send email over the Internet.

Easier: send a letter. (Or maybe don’t do that, either.)

The NSA also collects data on targeted individuals’ web activity. To prevent them from snooping on your important web activity (if you’re like us: reading The Atlantic Wire; looking at pictures of animals), you again need to worry about encryption.

In web browsers, that means using HTTPS. HTTP, hypertext transfer protocol, is the normal way content is shipped from a web server to your browser. HTTPS is the secure version of that, using encryption between the server and your browser, preventing those watching the traffic go past from seeing what’s happening. The most important thing you can do, Lee suggests, is use HTTPS whenever possible. To that end, the EFF has a browser plug-in called HTTPS Everywhere, which will make web pages that support HTTPS use it by default.

As always, though, there’s a weakness. Let’s go back to the mail-sending analogy. If you seal up a package nice and tidy, write Joe’s address on it, and send it off, Joe will get a nice, tidy package from you. But somewhere along the way, the NSA could have grabbed the package, opened it, looked at it, resealed it, and sent it on its way. That’s what Lee called a “man in the middle” attack—literally someone stepping in between the sender and the recipient. In the case of web traffic, you might send an encrypted message to your bank which someone intercepts on the way, reads, re-encrypts and sends on.

The way web traffic avoids that problem is using signed certificates. (That’s what they’re called, but it’s a metaphor.) Companies like Facebook go to a certificate authority and get a certificate for their encryption. When you send a request to Facebook, your browser checks that the security certificate is valid; if it is, all of the encryption happens without you even knowing. If the certificate isn’t valid, your browser returns a warning. You’ve probably seen it. In Chrome it looks like this:

Generally, this system works well. If a certificate authority gets hacked and its signing key—the tool it uses to authenticate certificates—is stolen, that could be a significant problem, allowing the hacker to forge certificates for any number of websites. But it probably wouldn’t go undetected. EFF also maintains what it calls the SSL Observatory, which keeps records of the certificates for websites and lets users compare the signed certificates they encounter on the web with the ones the EFF has on file. (It’s done automatically, in case that seemed off-putting.) If the certificate for, say, Twitter were to change, the EFF would start seeing that change reflected in its toolkit. The organization could check with Twitter and see if there was a valid reason for the change and, if not, issue warnings to its users.

You may see the flaw here. If the government gets access to a signing key or uses Twitter’s certificate, Twitter or the certificate authority may not be authorized to tell EFF anything out of the norm is happening. “If Facebook or any of these companies gives the NSA a copy of its cryptokeys, or if they obtain them some other way,” Lee points out, “it would allow them to spy on traffic.” But on the other hand, “Facebook could just give access to all of the users data,” making the complexity of this somewhat unnecessary.

Besides encryption, there is a tool that will allow you to mask who you are as you travel the web—to some extent, anyway. Called TOR (short for The Onion Router), it establishes a system through which your requests to web servers travel through three other anonymous servers around the world first. It’s like changing between three cabs on your way to your destination. Anyone trying to figure out where you came from would have a very difficult time doing so.

Particularly because the analogy is more like if you and 100 people shared that cab. The anonymous server through which you’re traveling is someone else’s TOR setup. You and many other people travel through each point, making the next destination of each hard to determine. Of course, if you use TOR to access your personal Facebook account, it’s not going to keep the government from knowing what you’re doing on Facebook. But if you visit a site with information you’d rather not be linked to, TOR can help sweep the path clean behind you.

If someone knew where literally every cab in a city was running and when, though, they could eventually figure out who started and ended where. This is the problem with TOR, as noted by Lee and TOR itself. The NSA surveils a massive amount of network traffic, both in the U.S. and with the help of its allies. Could it have an overview of the entire system of TOR traffic. It could. It probably doesn’t. As the recent revelations about the UK’s Tempora program revealed, some fraction of network data is currently being gathered—that could be a lot of data, but probably not all. Without a record of all of the stops, it’s much harder to track those cabs.

For those of you dependent upon real-time chat with your friends, a few words of warning. First of all, the “off the record” sessions offered by Google Chat offer zero protection. Second, most other chat systems, particularly web-based ones, aren’t much better.

You do have some options, though. IM protection works a lot like email, Lee points out, generally requiring end-to-end encryption using an external application. He recommends Off-the-Record Messaging, an app which, unlike Google’s “off the record” mode, provides that sort of end-to-end encryption. It requires an external chat client, for which the group maintains a list.

Apple’s iMessage isn’t one of them. But it has apparently stymied law enforcement in the past thanks to its encryption, and the company insists that it has no access to your messages, which would mean that its involvement in PRISM wouldn’t put your messages at risk. Some question whether or not that’s the case. After all, if Apple software is creating keys to encrypt your data, it necessarily has access to those keys. Anyway, it would only work when communicating with another Apple device using iMessage.

Nor does that end-to-end encryption obscure the metadata — again, as with email. The government could know that you sent a message to someone, and to whom it was sent, just as it can know who was called from which phone number. And speaking of phones:

We’ll start by distinguishing between two types of phones. There is the type of phone that makes phone calls (a “phone”) and the type of phone that primarily serves as a crutch for those desperate to retain a connection to the internet while not near a computer (a “smartphone”).

If your goal is to mask the phone calls you make using a traditional phone, you’re probably out of luck. It’s still not entirely clear which companies turn over bulk metadata on calls made, but there’s absolutely no reason to think any large carriers don’t. If you use a small regional phone company, the odds are better that your call records are not going straight to the NSA — that is, as long as you never call anyone who uses a larger phone company. Same goes for mobile phone providers. The smaller the company the less likely the NSA has gotten around to monitoring them, but don’t bet on it.

Smartphones expand your options a little bit, but not much. “With phones, it’s a lot closer to you not having a choice,” Lee notes. Your options:

Voice over IP. VoIP is the term for using a machine’s internet connection to transmit digital versions of voice communication. It’s Skype, in other words. But of course you don’t want to use Skype, since it’s a PRISM company. Lee suggests Red Phone, an Android app that offers encrypted voice communications. It requires two Android phones, though.

Textsecure. Another Android app from the same company as Red Phone, TextSecure does what it says on the tin: end-to-end encryption over text message. Also as with Red Phone, TextSecure is Open Source, meaning that anyone can access the source code to the software. This helps explain questions like, “who might have access to my encryption key?”

TOR Browsers. You can also get TOR browsers for your iPhone or Android device. See above warnings / restrictions / hand-wringing.

(As it turns out, your smartphone is just a little computer, meaning that we’re basically repeating the admonitions above. Who knew?)

And that’s it. All of the ways you can protect yourself when you go online. Remember: no form of prevention is 100 percent effective. The only truly safe way to protect yourself is to abstain completely.

It begins with what is known in Russia as the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Affairs for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, or, as it’s known internationally, the Emergency Control Ministry (EMERCOM). It was created in 1994 by Russian President Boris Yeltsin and has a whole range of duties, which you can read about on its Wikipedia page or at its own website, but the point is that it is a legitimate agency in Russia and not a fantastical delusion conceived in the overactive imaginations of Internet conspiracy theorists.

Well, a new report by EMERCOM states that Janet Napolitano of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has requested that, according to The European Union Times, “at least 15,000 Russian troops trained in disaster relief and ‘crowd functions’ [i.e. riot control] be pre-positioned to respond to FEMA Region III during an unspecified ‘upcoming’ disaster.” The Russian troops were requested to be reserved to work “directly and jointly” with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA is a branch of the DHS. (Here is a map of FEMA Region III. Note that Washington, D.C., the heart of the country, where a lot of protests occur, is a part of that region.)

The DHS, of course, is the agency of the federal government that over the last year has purchased riot gear, armored vehicles, and 2 billion rounds of ammunition, without explanation. Juxtaposed with this news of the DHS’s request for Russian soldiers to be prepared to “help us” in a time of emergency, it kind of makes one come to reason that this stockpiling of bullets and riot gear has been for the Russian troops.

I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist, which is probably what a conspiracy theorist would say if he wanted people to listen to him. But EMERCOM is internationally recognized; they are not publishers of tabloids, but an actual division of the Russian government.

I’d love to hear theories, even from the liberals reading this, as to why the Obama administration has requested 15,000 Russian troops to come to D.C. at some point. Whatever the reason is, it is obviously an event that the US government is planning. So what are they preparing for?

Senate Bill 510 May Be the Most Dangerous Bill in the History of the US

S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010,  may be the most dangerous bill in the history of the US.  It is to our food what the bailout was to our economy, only we can live without money.

“If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public’s right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes.  It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one’s choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God.”  ~Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada Health whistleblower

It is similar to what India faced with imposition of the salt tax during British rule, only S 510 extends control over all food in the US, violating the fundamental human right to food.

Monsanto says it has no interest in the bill and would not benefit from it, but Monsanto’s Michael Taylor who gave us rBGH and unregulated genetically modified (GM) organisms, appears to have designed it and is waiting as an appointed Food Czar to the FDA (a position unapproved by Congress) to administer the agency it would create — without judicial review — if it passes.  S 510 would give Monsanto unlimited power over all US seed, food supplements, food and farming.

This administration is focusing like a laser beam on jobs; or rather like a super-powered death ray. Everywhere it sees jobs being created it destroys them, and not just in coal country either. Take, for example, the National Labor Relations Board’s decision to prohibit Boeing, our nation’s largest exporter by value, from establishing a new plant in South Carolina because of its right-to-work laws. (Boeing later fought that decision and won.)

Chrysler and General Motors seem to have more latitude. The federal government is still a major stakeholder in both of these companies, yet both are setting up new factories in China. GM announced earlier this year that Shanghai would receive a new Cadillac factory, while Chrysler plans to manufacture Jeeps in China starting in 2014.

How’s that for chutzpah? The federal government arrogantly dictated to a private company that it could not open a factory in a right-to-work state, while two companies with substantial government ownership were setting up shop in an entirely different country.

GROUP SEEKS MORE CHANGE FROM PEPSI ON CARCINOGEN

Coca-Cola said it has transitioned to using a modified caramel in U.S. markets beyond California that does not contain Mel-4, so it wouldn’t have to have separate inventory of products for different locations. It also said all of its products, whether they have the modified caramel or not, are safe.

The watchdog group Center for Environmental Health said it commissioned Eurofins Analystical laboratory in Metairie, La., to test Coke and Pepsi products from California in May and from across the country in June.

The lab did not find the chemical in California products. And it found no 4-Mel in nine out of 10 Coke products outside of the state. But it found levels of 4-Mel that are 4 to 8 times higher than California safety levels in all 10 Pepsi products purchased outside California, according to the Center for Environmental Health.

TEA PARTY TERRORISTS ?

Rasmussen came out recently with a new telephone survey , which included 1,000 likely voters. The survey asked questions ranging from nuclear weapons, to who is considered the nation’s top terrorist threat.

Twenty-six percent of those who approve of Obama’s performance believe that the Tea Party is the biggest terror threat to the US. This is compared to the likely voters of whom thirteen percent believe the same. Among those who approve of Obama’s job performance, just twenty-nine percent see ‘radical’ Muslims as the bigger threat. Among those who strongly approve of Obama, more fear the Tea Party than radical Muslims.

The Democrat Party gleefully embraces Satan:

Support for ultra-late-term abortions — including fourth-trimester abortions, if President Obama’s state senatorial voting record is any indication — appears to be the foremost plank of the Democrat Party. Even to the point of marshaling Satan for help.

DHS: Napolitano Bringing 15,000 Russian Troops To U.S

She says they are intended to help in “disasters.”

As part of a deal signed last week in Washington DC between the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry and FEMA, Russian officials will provide “security at mass events” in the United States, a scenario that won’t sit well with Americans wary of foreign assets operating on US soil.

According to a press release by the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense and Emergencies, US and Russian officials met on June 25 at the 17th Joint U.S.-Russia Cooperation Committee on Emergency Situations.

In addition to agreeing with FEMA to “exchange experts during joint rescue operations in major disasters,” the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will also be providing “security at mass events” in the United States.

OBAMACARE REGULATION BARS CATHOLICS FROM OWNING INSURANCE COMPANIES

The final version of Obamacare’s “preventive services” regulation that the Department of Health and Human Services published on Friday discriminates against faithful members of the Roman Catholic Church by effectively barring them from owning and operating health-insurance companies.

This is because the regulation orders health insurance companies to provide sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs to all female beneficiaries except those insured by “religious employers”–which, according to the regulation, includes only actual “houses of worship” (n.b. parish churches), their immediate auxiliaries, associations of houses of worship and the “exclusively religious activities of any religious order.”

The Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, artificial contraception, and abortion are intrinsically immoral. The church also teaches that Catholics are not allowed to cooperate in evil acts such as abortion–which the church says is a form of murder.

Sen. Cruz has refused to support a conference committee motion unless it includes instructions for conference members should an agreement that would bust the current $16.7 trillion debt ceiling not be reached. Due to increased revenues in 2013, the Treasury is not expected to default on the current debt until late this year or early next year. University unfairly raises grades of black students, say 3 ex-faculty members

School administrators at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) are systematically raising the final grades of African-American students, three ex-faculty members told Campus Reform last month.

Former Director of Academic Technology Shira Hedgepeth, along with two former professors who spoke to Campus Reform on the condition of anonymity, alleged administrators at the historically black college routinely increase the final grades of African-American students in order to raise the school’s standing.

“Some students had their final grades changed based on their race,” Hedgepeth told Campus Reform on June 6. “That was a common complaint of many of the faculty that I worked with.”

“None of the Caucasian or non-African American students… none of their grades were changed,” she added. “The way the grades fell out, there was no other reason for changing.”

That’s allegedly the Secret Service’s oath of office as they are sworn in as an agent. Note that in that oath they do not swear allegiance to the president nor the office of the president. They swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and to “support and defend” it. They also swear allegiance “against all enemies, foreign and domestic”.

So when will one of them exercise their “five core values” of “justice, duty, courage, honesty and loyalty” and get on with the job of arresting the president? They have sworn an oath to “We, The People”, not a political party, nor to a person, but to the U.S. Constitution and to the people who wrote it to “establish justice” (amongst other things).

Where is the justice when a man — who assumes to be king — is breaking his oath of office and the U.S. Constitution he swore to uphold?

After all, we’ve seen that the president has “broken free of the Constitution” time after time after time… Ad infinitum. So when does he get arrested? His oath of office from the U.S. Constitution (Article 2, Section 1, paragraph 8) states:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The president has forgotten — and his actions prove the assertion — that “We, The People” are his bosses, not vice versa. We are not his subjects, although he treats us as though we are. After all, he had his attorneys argue in the Supreme Court that:

• The government can order churches who they can and will employ (Breaks the 1st Amendment)
• The government can burn books that mention a politician in an unflattering way (book burning in a Supreme Court argument!?) (Breaks the 1st Amendment)
• The government can track you without a warrant (NSA gathering records, anyone?) (Breaks the 4th Amendment)
• A governmental department can basically take away your land and make you pay for them to do it (Breaks the 14th Amendment)

If savings were kept inside the loan program, instead of transferred to Obamacare, they could allow the Department of Education to lower student interest rates to 5.3 percent from 6.8 percent, according to the CBO.

The very spooky Teper further reasoned that the “Blade makes a clean cut and leaves vital organs intact.” I will be happy to let this statement speak for itself. Below is a draft of the legislation.

SECTION 1.

  1- 8  The General Assembly finds that while prisoners condemned to
  1- 9  death may wish to donate one or more of their organs for
  1-10  transplant, any such desire is thwarted by the fact that
  1-11  electrocution makes all such organs unsuitable for
  1-12  transplant. The intent of the General Assembly in enacting
  1-13  this legislation is to provide for a method of execution
  1-14  which is compatible with the donation of organs by a
  1-15  condemned prisoner.

                         SECTION 2.

  1-16  Article 2 of Chapter 10 of Title 17 of the Official Code of
  1-17  Georgia Annotated, relating to the death penalty generally,
  1-18  is amended by striking in its entirety Code Section
  1-19  17-10-38, relating to death sentences generally, and
  1-20  inserting in lieu thereof the following:

  1-22    (a) All persons who have been convicted of a capital
  1-23    offense and have had imposed upon them a sentence of death
  1-24    shall, at the election of the condemned, suffer such

  1-27    day preceding the date scheduled for execution, punishment
  1-28    shall be by electrocution.

Specifically the president wants to put yet more burdens on coal-fired electrical plants in the United States in order to raise the price of energy, reduce the number of jobs, and keep the Earth’s oceans from spontaneously boiling – an issue which is clearly way more urgent than coming clean on Benghazi, IRS harassment of citizens, domestic spying, monumentally screwed-up foreign policy, or any of Obama’s other legion of scandals and failures.

As part of the president’s “plan,” he is strongly demanding that scientists “must design new fuels and energy sources,” which would be a pretty good freaking trick. Perhaps as part of his “plan,” he should also demand that scientists must design anti-gravity machines, time travel, cake with no calories, and a way for dead people to vote which is more efficient than the system Democrats currently use.

Of course, the fact that recent studies show that the Earth hasn’t heated up in the past 16 yearsis irrelevant to the president’s continuing effort to bankrupt the coal industry and further cripple our economy.

Because the real goal of the president’s plan is to take the heat off himself.

These revelations are absolutely explosive. They reveal exactly what I feared (and publicly warned about) — that the true group running things in the U.S. government is now the NSA, not the White House and certainly not Congress.

With its massive spy grid system in placed for years, the NSA has gathered dirt on everyone in a position of power. Anyone with a secret is now compromised and can therefore be controlled. This even includes President Obama, who can be safely assumed to be nothing more than a charismatic puppet.

As Tice explained in the podcast:

Anger mounts after Facebook’s ‘shadow profiles’ leak in bug

Friday Facebook announced the fix of a bug it said inadvertently exposed the private information of over six million users when Facebook’s previously unknown shadow profiles accidentally merged with user accounts in data history record requests. 

According to Reuters, the data leak spanned a year beginning in 2012.

The personal information leaked by the bug is information that had not been given to Facebook by the users – it is data Facebook has been compiling on its users behind closed doors, without their consent.

A growing number of Facebook users are furious and demand to know who saw private information they had expressly not given to Facebook.

Facebook was accidentally combining user’s shadow profiles with their Facebook profiles and spitting the merged information out in one big clump to people they ‘had some connection to’ who downloaded an archive of their account with Facebook’s Download Your Information (DYI) tool.

According to the admissions in its blog, posted late Friday afternoon, Facebook appears to be obtaining users’ offsite email address and phone numbers and attempting to match them to other accounts. It appears that the invisible collected information is then being stored in each user’s ‘shadow profile’ that is somehow attached to accounts.

Yes, Barack O’Bama and his lovely wife, Shillelagh (Gaelic for “Michelle”), are living it up in Ireland for a couple of days and a few million dollars. He’s attending the G8 summit for the critical purpose of being away from reporters asking about his legion of scandals, and Michelle and the girls are along for the critical purpose of burning through millions of taxpayer dollars to have lunch with Bono (really), look at harps in museums (really), and to tell anyone in Ireland who’ll listen that “it’s good to be home” (really).

The president also took time off from his busy schedule to give a speech to an audience of Irish teens, telling them to “stay peaceful” and lay off any Catholic versus Protestant violence – perhaps by converting to Islam. Okay, he didn’t say that last part, but it’s more or less implied at this point.

Following the summit in Ireland, the first family will be off to their $100 million African vacation (during which we doubt that Michelle will say “it’s good to be home”). The trip formerlyinvolved a safari, but it was cancelled when news sources learned that the president would be surrounded by snipers who would target anything dangerous that got too close – which is ironically the same policy the president has been applying to news organizations domestically.

Still, despite the huge expenses involved, Hope n’ Change fervently believes that the first family’s travel expenses are worth every sequester-pinched penny. 

Unless, of course, they come back.

Obama’s Spy Dragnet Excludes Mosques

That’s right, the government’s sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.

Since October 2011, mosques have been off-limits to FBI agents. No more surveillance or undercover string operations without high-level approval from a special oversight body at the Justice Department dubbed the Sensitive Operations Review Committee.

Who makes up this body, and how do they decide requests? Nobody knows; the names of the chairman, members and staff are kept secret.

We do know the panel was set up under pressure from Islamist groups who complained about FBI stings at mosques. Just months before the panel’s formation, the Council on American-Islamic Relations teamed up with the ACLU to sue the FBI for allegedly violating the civil rights of Muslims in Los Angeles by hiring an undercover agent to infiltrate and monitor mosques there.

Before mosques were excluded from the otherwise wide domestic spy net the administration has cast, the FBI launched dozens of successful sting operations against homegrown jihadists — inside mosques — and disrupted dozens of plots against the homeland.

To calm the many people who are upset that the government is using invasive methods to collect anti-terror information from every source in America, the Whitehouse has made it clear that this is not the case – because they’re not collecting data from mosques.

That’s right – in the push to uncover radical Islamic acts of terror before they take place, the government has decided that political correctness forbids having the FBI focus attention on those places radical Islamists are most likely to be.

Mind you, the government used to create sting operations within mosques to see if anyone was interested in blowing American innocents to hell and gone. But there was a serious problem: the program worked, disrupting many jihadist terror plots. So the ACLU and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (one of those “apolitical” organizations the IRS actually favors with tax-exempt status) sued the FBI to create a “hands off” policy – which is ironically the same policy practiced by amateur bomb makers if they can’t tell the red wire from the blue wire.

The FBI is now on such a short leash (a choker chain that formerly belonged to Barack Obama’s alleged dog, Bo) that following the Boston Marathon Bombing, the bureau didn’t even take the security camera pictures of the Tsarneav brothers to local mosques for possible identification…out of fear that it would seem insensitive and (even worse) fear that it would reveal that Muslims really were behind the terror.

And so, the government continues to mount the largest and most expensive intelligence gathering operation in history, excluding only those people most likely to be the ones they’re looking for.

Which raises two important questions: why then is the government spying on the rest of us and why, in the bloody aftermath of Ft. Hood, does the government of Barack Hussein Obama still place a higher value on political correctness than saving American lives?

It was revealed Wednesday that the National Security Agency has forced Verizon to turn over phone records of customers inside the United States in the name of fighting terrorism.

But the developers of Seecrypt say you can get around the NSA with their app.

Users, according to the developers, don’t have to worry about the government knowing who they are talking with.

For the app to work, both people wanting to text or call each other must have the application. But when the application is used, the phone company will not know the identity or phone number of the other person on the line.

We are faced with a whole new situation. The NSA apparently has received a warrant from what is being called a “secret court”, also known as a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, to compel Verizon Wireless to turn over all records of calls both domestically and internationally.

I would love to know how a FOREIGN intelligence court is able to compel domestic records.

This is very alarming. This data collection is set to continue into the middle of July unless the court of origin extends it. This gives the government the freedom to snoop on the cell phone calls of an estimated one in three Americans. There is no targeting of records for specific suspects, this is just my phone records or your phone records and the National Security Agency is free to go through them at their leisure.

On Thursday, the Whitehouse defended its massive, ongoing collection of telephone records from American citizens by saying that they don’t actually pay attention to what is said during your formerly-private phonecalls, and that invading the privacy of Americans is a valuable tool in the “War on Terror.”

But since B. Hussein just announced that he’s winding down the old “War on Terror” which involved (and continues to involve) radical Islamists blowing innocent people into halal-sized chunks, Hope n’ Change is forced to assume that the Whitehouse must be using this valuable tool for a new and different “War on Terror.”

Of course, all of your information will be handled in an absolutely confidential, non-political way, in much the same way that the IRS handles your personal data.

Still, just to be safe, it might be a good idea not to use inflammatory words like “patriot,” “liberty,” “constitution,” or “freedom” when you’re using the phone or Internet. You never know what mischief a couple of low-level “rogue agents” at the NSA might get into.

In the growing shadow of the IRS “War on Conservatives” scandal, the Obama administration has just confirmed our worst nightmares by proudly announcing that there really will be a political component to your IRS-administered healthcare.

Specifically, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen “Shakedown Money“ Sibelius says that Obamacare will be putting a “special focus on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community because for too long (they) were pushed out of the way.” Which means that if you’re not a member of that community, then it’s time that you were pushed out of the way for awhile.

Secretary Sibelius says that the LGBT community will be getting some benefits specific to their needs, including help with smoking – which LGBT folks apparently do more of than straight folks (although we don’t know if that’s only after sex).

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time smoking has been mentioned with regard to Obamacare recently – because in some cases smokers can be charged up to 50% more for their health insurance under the new rules. Unless, we suppose, those smokers argue that they were “born that way” rather than making the choice to light up. 

Frankly, as much as Hope n’ Change doesn’t like the idea of sexual identity being used to assign favored or unfavored status in healthcare, we’re not overly worried about it. After all,everyone’s healthcare is going down the toilet as soon as Obamacare is fully implemented.

But just to keep the odds on our side, in the event of a heart attack we plan to be wearing women’s underwear and a medical alert bracelet which says “trapped in a man’s body.”

Mother Tells Of Almost Aborting Cher

NEW YORK (BHN) –  Appearing on the Lifetime show called Dear Mom, Love Cher, the famous singer’s mother confessed that she came within minutes of aborting her now-famous daughter.

Georgia Holt was 20 and recently separated from her husband when she found herself pregnant with Cher. She opted for an abortion, but while sitting in the waiting room waiting to have the procedure came to the realization she couldn’t go through with it. The 86-year-old Holt described living with the decision since that fateful day.
